Company Description: The School was established in 2001 as the Dubbo Clinical School but has been operating as the School of Rural Health (SRH) since 2004. It has campuses in Dubbo and Orange, and has a close association with the majority of hospitals in the Western NSW Local Health District. The SRH provides delivery of the Sydney Medical Program in rural settings and aims to give students both excellence in medical education as well as the benefits of a rural lifestyle to encourage graduates to return to live and practise in rural and remote Australia. The SRH also provides an academic focus for clinicians, teachers and researchers who wish to become part of the University presence in a rural environment. Our funding comes from the Rural Clinical School Initiatives Program of the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing. Our students, all of whom come from Sydney Medical School's metropolitan clinical schools, spend at least one clinical year at the SRH. Medical research is an increasing aspect of the SRH’s activities. We encourage our students to be involved in research and facilitate our staff and teachers to be involved in research projects. An increasing number of medical publications attest to this success. We can confidently state that the facilities are first rate, the teaching experienced is excellent and our students give us excellent feedback.
