SPONSORSHIP

Sponsorship of DCCI events is an important part of the Chamber’s budget. As a not-for-profit organisation, all of our income goes to providing services to our members. Our Board is completely voluntary.

2011, with the Rhino’s Business Awards, sponsorship contributed more than 40% of our budget, which allowed us to deliver more than 20 events to members and employ  two part-time staff who keep the organisation ticking over.

Sponsorship of the Chamber and our events is critical is the Chamber is to offer more exciting programs and defray costs.

What is sponsorship?

Sponsorship is the financial or in-kind support of an activity, used primarily to reach specified business goals. According to IEG’s Complete Guide to Sponsorship, "Sponsorship should not be confused with advertising. Advertising is considered a quantitative medium, whereas sponsorship is considered a qualitative medium. It promotes a company in association with the sponsee."

Used well, sponsorship is a powerful complement to other marketing programs, in addition to having a dramatic influence on customer relations and a positive influence on your brand.

Why sponsor?

6 great reasons an organisation can benefit by being a sponsor include:

  • Enhancing Image/Shaping Consumer Attitudes

Often companies are looking to improve how they are perceived by their target audience. Sponsoring events that appeal to their market are likely to shape buying attitudes and help generate a positive reaction.

  •  Driving Sales

Sponsorship geared to driving sales can be an extremely potent promotional tool. This objective allows sponsors to showcase their product attributes.

  • Creating positive publicity/heightening visibility

Every sponsor is seeking wide exposure in both electronic and print media. Positive publicity helps create heightened visibility of products/services and brand.

  • Differentiating from competitors

The mere act of sponsoring an event, especially an exclusive sponsorship, is a significant way to create competitor differentiation. Sponsorship can allow a smaller company to compete with their industry giants.

  • Helping with good "Corporate Citizen" role

Another powerful sponsorship objective allows companies to seen supporting the community, which can create enormous goodwill.

  • Enhancing business and consumer relations

Sponsorship can open doors that will allow you opportunities to meet key customers and solidify business relationships.
