Welcome to your Dubbo Chamber Newsletter - Badiya!

The finalists for the Orana Mutual 2014 Rhino Awards have been announced and congratulations to all those businesses and individuals who have been selected. We should have details on tickets for the awards night available soon.

We had over 40 ladies (and gentlemen) attend out Women In Business lunch last week which was a great turnout.

Next week is our Chamber Breakfast with two special speakers. Rod Crowfoot will give the annual Dubbo REI Real Estate and Development update. Then Paul Orton from NSW Business Chamber will launch their campaign for next years NSW State Election.

Follow the Dubbo Chamber Facebook Page and Twitter Feed for the latest news about the Chamber and business in Dubbo.

2014 Rhino Awards Finalists Announced

The finalists for the Orana Mutual 2014 Rhino Awards have been announced.

The announcement was made at the annual sponsors and finalists cocktail party, which was attended by more than 130 members of Dubbo’s business community at Taronga Western Plains Zoo last Wednesday night.

Chamber President, Andrew Toole said there was tough competition for the 20 awards that would be presented in this year’s outstanding business awards.

“The Rhino Awards are the biggest of their kind in the Central West of NSW and are vital for encouraging our businesses to be the best they can,” Mr Toole said.

“An incredibly diverse range of business will be represented at the 19th annual Rhino Awards gala dinner.

“We have everything from photographers and plumbers to a child care centre, accountants, real estate agents and a heavy machinery and labour hire firm represented in the list of finalists.

“That shows us the exceptional range of businesses in Dubbo and, together with a high calibre of entrepreneurs who are finalists’, gives us confidence in the future for Dubbo when we fast forward a few years.

“Any business that has made it to the list of finalists should feel proud of the recognition they received.

“To be included in this list of finalists shows they have achieved a standard of excellence that puts them among the best in Dubbo’s business community.”

For the second year, Chamber engaged an independent panel of expert judges from outside the local area who had the tough job of determining the finalists.

Last night’s cocktail function was a chance to celebrate with the finalists, to thank the judges and to acknowledge the dozens of sponsors who have helped make this year’s Rhino Awards high quality event.

“Businesses in our community are being asked to sponsor events and fundraising initiatives every day of the week, so we appreciate that so many past winners and high achievers in our community have come on board to support the Rhinos this year,” Mr Toole said.

The winners in eight categories in this year’s Rhino Awards will gain automatic entry into the 2015 NSW Business Chamber Regional Business Awards (Central West).

As well as 20 Silver Rhino Awards, the Chamber will present the annual Jean Emile Serisier Roll of Honour and the Gold Rhino Award at the gala presentation evening at Dubbo RSL Club on Friday 24 October.
