Chamber Time to Breakfast - July 2nd, 2014 - Work Inspiration Program.

Sponsor: RDA Orana

Guest Speakers: RDA Orana

The Smith Family joined up with The Foundation for Young Australians and NAB (who put $1m into this) to bring employer led exposure to improve growing the workforce.

RDA have found in Orana numerous employers concerned about getting staff with the right skills but also the right understanding of what work is. Importantly this is employer led and tailored to each employers need.

This program aims to inspire about work and breaks down a lot of barriers. It has been successful in metro and this is the first time its’ been bought to a regional area.

The YouTube video is well worth watching – it’s only short (5 min).

Economic Development Advisory Committee Vacancies

Dubbo City Council has a representative body for industry and business in the City. Referred to as the Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) it meets roughly quarterly in an informal manner for around an hour and a half and consists of a workshop or round table type meeting. Membership consists of representatives from Council and a broad range of services, industries and business.

There are currently three vacancies on EDAC with a representative each being sought from the mining, retail and educational sectors. EDAC seeks to fill these vacancies as soon as possible to ensure a more diverse representation on the committee.

John Southwell is the Dubbo Chamber representative on EDAC and is happy for chamber members who might like to consider nominating for EDAC membership to give him a call to discuss. John can be contacted on 0418 681 183 or email john@coachwell.com.au
