Join the Dubbo Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday 6th April 2022 at Devil's Hollow Brewery, for our third breakfast for this year.

We would like to thank our April Breakfast Sponsor Housing Plus for supporting this event.

Housing Plus is a not for profit organisation that has been operating in regional NSW for over 35 years and more specifically in Dubbo since 2014, when we completed construction of 5 disability units in Frith Street.

We manage over 1,100 properties and deliver 8 different community services from 9 locations across NSW. We work with some of the most vulnerable people in our communities and we are passionate about helping them achieve their goals.

Since we commenced operating in Dubbo in 2014, we opened our office in 2019 when we were successful in winning the tender to deliver the Opportunity Pathways program in Dubbo, a mentoring program for social housing clients who need support to complete training courses and to seek employment.

In 2019 we started our social and affordable housing building program in Dubbo. By the end of 2021 we will have built 123 homes in Dubbo, an investment of $42M into the Dubbo Community.

We will also be joined by Bronwyn Pearson,  Employment Facilitator in Far West Orana for the Local Jobs Program.

The Local Jobs Program, an Australian Government initiative from the Department of Education, Skills and Employment, brings together expertise, resources and access to funding at the local level to support job seekers and their communities in each region.  The program has a particular focus on reskilling, upskilling and employment pathways and is part of supporting Australia’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Economic recovery is likely to look different across sectors and communities – as we know, the labour market is not homogenous. Rather than adopting a one-size-fits all approach, the Local Jobs Program focuses on delivering both the tools and resources into regions to design, adopt and drive their own employment and training solutions.

The program is currently available in 51 Employment Regions across Australia, one of which is Far West Orana. A key emphasis of the Local Jobs Program is collaboration – to bring employers, providers and a range of other stakeholders to the table to work to a common objective: to help job seekers back into work or into training opportunities as quickly as possible.

We hope you can join us!
