Pip Marlow Breakfast, Bob Berry Golf Day

- Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Welcome to your Dubbo Chamber Newsletter!

A great start to our Women In Business Lunches last week. 45+ enjoyed lunch at The Old Bank and listening to Karen Creith’s talk. Look out for more WIB functions this year. (a great sponsorship opportunity too)

Again a big congrats to Jackie Parish and her team for the second Your Dubbo 2014 workshop. Honestly I enjoyed this one as much if not more than the first one. Craig from Boost Juice gave a great talk and the Panel discussion after was really good. Looking forward to David Duffy next week and then John Larkin the week after.

Tickets for our Time to Breakfast with Pip Marlow, Managing Director of Microsoft Australia are selling strong. Looks like we might have a bit of NBN news from Dubbo Council too - maybe. Book now to avoid missing out.

Finally we are very pleased to have Bob Berry Real Estate as our naming sponsor for the 2014 Chamber Golf Day. Details below.

Chamber Time to Breakfast - April 9th, 2014.

Guest Speaker - Pip Marlow, Managing Director at Microsoft Australia.

The new “Australian Made”

Australia’s economy is evolving fast as we start to shift our focus from traditional industries such as mining and manufacturing and towards new growth opportunities. This is an exciting time to reimagine what ‘Australian made’ might mean in the future. And what it might mean for leading regional hubs like Dubbo.

Smaller centres and businesses will have a bigger part to play than ever before, especially as the NBN comes online and opens up new possibilities. Technologies like cloud computing will also level the playing field, shrink distances and make location irrelevant.

Now is the time to talk about how Dubbo can thrive in this new digital era and supercharge its position in the Australian economy. Opportunities may lie in enhancing existing areas of strength such as agriculture and tourism, or in enabling new sectors and business models based on advanced technologies and access to a global marketplace. Microsoft is also a strong believer in the power of technology to improve diversity and equal opportunity, and its ability to attract new waves of skilled workers to regional areas like Dubbo.

Our sponsor for this breakfast is Dubbo City Council.

Mayor Mathew Dickerson will provide a minor update on Dubbo and the NBN, and a quick overview about what Dubbo has planned to take advantage of what Pip Marlow will be talking about.

Join us at the Savannah Room on Wednesday, April 9. RSVP by Tuesday the 8th using the link below. Book Early for this one to avoid missing out. Tickets are selling fast.
