Welcome to your Dubbo Chamber Newsletter - The Winners Are…

Fantastic night last week at the Dubbo RSL for the Orana Mutual 2014 Rhino Awards. Great effort by Megan Dixon and her entire team that put on a top show.

A massive thanks to our sponsors too - the awards would not be possible without their support and we wouldn’t be able to recognise the excellence in business around Dubbo.

The Dubbo Chamber AGM is coming up soon on December 9th. In the next few weeks you will be able to nominate to election to the Board for 2015. As a first year Board member I have found it very interesting and worthwhile doing - all going well I should be back for another year. If your interested - seek out and talk to one of the current Board members about what’s involved and nominate yourself. It’s your Chamber and the decisions are made by those that turn up.

Follow the Dubbo Chamber Facebook Page and Twitter Feed for the latest news about the Chamber and business in Dubbo.

EMS Group and Geoffrey Holland Take Out Major 2014 Rhino Awards

The Gold Rhino for Dubbo’s best local business for 2014 has been awarded to EMS Group and Geoffrey Holland has been added to the Jean Emile Serisier Roll of Honour.

In a glamorous presentation evening at the Dubbo RSL Memorial Club, 21 Silver Rhino category winners were announced in the Orana Mutual 2014 Rhino Outstanding Business Awards.

Chamber President, Andrew Toole said there was a wide range of winners in the awards, with EMS Group taking home the Employer of Choice award and Apprentice of the Year, while its founding director, Tom Cavanagh was highly commended in the Young Entrepreneur category. With a focus on labour hire and sales and service of new and used heavy machinery, EMS Group has grown rapidly over the past five years.

"EMS Group is a business that has kept an eye on growth opportunities in the mining, construction, earthmoving and agriculture industries and modelled itself on supporting those industries,” Mr Toole said.

“Starting out as two blokes with a ute and a few grand ideas, this business has grown to be the epitome of what tonight’s Fast Forward theme reflects – it has looked to the future and grown to meet a demand,” Mr Toole said.

“This is a business that proves that Dubbo is a remarkable location – we are well positioned to service a range of industries and to do so on the national and international stage.”

Former Secretary Manager of the Dubbo RSL Club, Geoffrey Holland is this year’s addition to the Jean Emile Serisier Roll of Honour, which recognises the contributions of Dubbo’s most respected business leaders.

Over nearly 16 years leading the club, Mr Holland was credited with changing the perception of the club business in Dubbo and gaining the RSL the Gold Rhino Award in 2012.

“Geoffrey Holland was the driving force behind Dubbo RSL Club’s transition from a “beer and pokies joint to a respected local business and one of the most successful clubs in regional NSW,” Mr Toole said.
